INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS/REVIEWERS

Conflict of Interest Information

At the time of electronic manuscript submission, Annals of Internal Medicine requires corresponding authors to summarize all authors’ conflict of interest disclosures. (We also require conflict of interest disclosures from members of panels that help formulate consensus or guideline recommendations, even if those contributors are not named authors on the consensus or guideline statement.) We provide the summary information collated by the corresponding author to editors and peer reviewers. If editors later invite the authors to revise a manuscript after peer review, we ask each author, including the corresponding author, to individually complete online Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statements. Relationships that we prompt authors to report are described in the Conflict of Interest: Definition and Policy section of our Information for Authors document. We require reporting of the relationships if they occurred within the following time frames: a) during the year preceding the start of the development of the work reported in the manuscript up through acceptance for publication or b) during the five year period preceding acceptance for publication if this time frame is longer than the time frame described in a. We also require reporting any pertinent pending grants and drug approval or patent applications expected within 1 year of the manuscript acceptance date. At the time of manuscript acceptance, we ask authors to confirm and update, if necessary, their online disclosure statements.
