    To the editor: Blayney and associates (1) have recently presented their hypothesis on sarcoidosis and human T-cell leukemia-lymphoma virus. An etiologic association between sarcoid and a viral or other agent remains to be proved; we recently saw a patient who may be of interest in this regard.

    A 39-year-old white man presented with a 2-year history of lymphadenopathy and pulmonary infiltrates. Prior bronchoscopic examination and samples from two open lung biopsies showed nonspecific inflammation and non-caseating granulomas. In addition, samples from two lymph node biopsies showed reactive hyperplasia with non-caseating granulomas. All bacterial, fungal, and tuberculous cultures were negative. In
