Improved management of medical illness and advances in the monitoring of high-risk pregnancies and postnatal care have allowed successful pregnancy for women with complex medical problems. These advances have led to a large body of literature on these topics. The articles and books in this bibliography were selected as a guide for internists in their care of pregnant patients with medical problems.
The literature was searched by reviewing subject headings in Index Medicus and cross-referencing various medical diagnoses and pregnancy with the National Library of Medicine's MEDLARS program. The search was limited to items in English. Articles were selected in
