Providing patients with relevant, easy to understand, and readily recallable drug information is a formidable task. With the demise of the mandatory patient package insert, the initiative for developing such information seems to have shifted to the private sector.
The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention appears to have accomplished this objective in good measure by publishing the two volumes of USP-Dispensing Information.
Volume 1 includes the drug monographs arranged in alphabetical order. Among others, these provide useful details on the indications approved by the Food and Drug Administration along with other uses that are believed to represent current prescribing practices. The pharmacologic
