    This issue carries two articles (1, 2) from faculty of general medicine divisions. These articles were selected from 80 submitted in response to a call from the Society for Research and Education in Primary Care Internal Medicine for articles to be published in a supplement illustrating current research in general internal medicine. Some articles were returned as being more appropriate for a different journal. Many more were rejected either because the question being addressed was not considered substantial or, more commonly, a good question was pursued with an insufficiently rigorous study design.
