    To the editor: We wish to call to your attention an apparent error in Figure 3 of the article "Sporadic Legionellosis in the United States: The First Thousand Cases" by England and colleagues (1) in the February 1981 issue. According to the figure, the state of Iowa reported 31 cases of sporadic legionellosis in 1978, and an attack rate of less than one case per million population was calculated. Using an estimated population for the 1975 Iowa population of 2 879 235 (IOWA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION. 1978 Statistical Profile of Iowa, Jewett Building, Des Moines, Iowa), the attack rate is 10.8
