The aspiration is grand: to objectify, predict, and favorably influence the professional character of individual physicians—both emergent, and those with "mature operational professional identities." The dust jacket states that the authors' view of medical education has "immediate usefulness" for admission personnel and educators of medical students. It may, but not as expressed in The Doctor Tree: The 173-page book is not a resource, the tentative technique of "tracking" students too rudimentary, and is a text only as the term may be applied to a sermon.
