The most recent recommendations of the Center for Disease Control for the treatment of infections due to Neisseria gonorrhoeae appear on pages 809-811 of this issue. These recommended treatment schedules replace those issued in 1974 (1) and were drawn up by the Venereal Disease Control Division, Bureau of State Services, after receiving advice from a group of extramural experts. In preparation for this task, members of the Venereal Disease Control Division prepared position papers on various aspects of gonorrhea treatment. These papers will be published separately as a supplement to Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
