To the editor: We have read with interest the recent report by McDanald and Weisman (1) in the December 1978 issue, and there are several problems in their article we believe need addressing. One of the most useful diagnostic features of rheumatic fever has been the migratory pattern of arthritis, which is uncommon in other arthritides. Previous reports (2, 3) of much larger series of adults with this disease have emphasized this aspect of the disease, and, although not carefully documenting this, made no mention of the additive polyarthritis described in McDanald's and Weisman's patients.
