Influenza Vaccine: Preliminary Statement
Recommendation of the Public Health Service Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices
Abstract
The primary influenza vaccine for 1978-79 will be an inactivated trivalent preparation of antigens representative of the three currently prevalent influenza viruses. A monovalent vaccine will also be produced if needed for optimum immunization of any population group. Annual vaccination is recommended for persons of all ages who have various chronic conditions. Physicians should evaluate pregnant women for influenza immunization according to the criteria applied to other persons.
