To the editor: I have read with interest the recent paper by Daniels and Rowlands, "Lymphocyte subpopulations in sarcoidosis: correlation with disease activity and duration" (Ann Intern Med 85:593-600, 1976). I wish to make the following comments.

The authors referred in the discussion part of their paper to our earlier study and differed with our findings. We reported the relation between phytohemagglutinin-induced lymphoblastic transformation and the extent of sarcoidosis (1), whereas they did not find any such clear correlation.
