To the editor: I wish to comment on "Treadmill Stress Tests As Indicators of Presence and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease" by Goldschlager, Selzer, and Cohn in the September issue (Ann Intern Med 85:277-286, 1976). Their conclusion that exercise testing is "an extremely useful procedure, not only as a means of detecting the presence or absence of coronary disease in a qualitative sense, but also as a means of delineating persons with advanced degrees of malignant types of coronary disease" is not supported by their findings.
