The study of organ pathology has suffered as modern medical curricula have been redefined. Emphasis all too often is directed to the study of molecular and biochemical changes and cellular alteration at the ultrastructural level. Moreover, the time available to faculties for the teaching of classical pathology is dwindling. Thus, increasingly the medical student lacks an appreciation of disease at the structural level of the gross organ.
