An attempt to cover all of pediatric neuropathology is an enormous undertaking. The spectrum of diseases affecting the nervous system is, as expected, large, especially when one realizes that approximately 25% of the patients in a pediatric hospital have some type of neurologic dysfunction.

In this very compact book Dr. Smith has chosen his main divisions well, beginning logically with the development of the brain, going on to a description of the components of the nervous system, and then to their reaction to injury. This leads, as anticipated, to a consideration of malformations of the nervous system. I believe that
