Medicine in People's Republic of China.
Excerpt
Being one of the few American physicians and the first Chinese-born born doctor of medicine to have visited the People's Republic of China in the last 22 years, I wish to share some of my experiences with my colleagues in this country. Among the many exciting medical developments in China are the revitalization of traditional medicine, emergence of barefoot doctors, synthesis of insulin, successful reattachment of severed fingers and limbs, complete eradication of venereal diseases, successful chemotherapy of metastasizing choriocarcinoma, and acupuncture anesthesia. The last is a typical example of great success resulting from integration of traditional and Western medicine.
