Relapsing Polychondritis, a "Floppy" Mitral Valve, and Migratory Polytendonitis

Abstract
A patient with relapsing polychondritis, the "floppy" mitral valve syndrome, retinal artery thrombosis, and a migratory polytendonitis is described, and an histological similarity of the aortic lesions of polychondritis to the mitral valve lesions of the "floppy" mitral valve syndrome is discussed. We suggest that the pathologic process of polychondritis, which was seen in the ear biopsy, may also occur in the mitral valve or its support apparatus and explain the cardiac findings.
