Acceptance of Paramedical Professionals
- RAYMOND H. MURRAY, M.D.
Excerpt
It is now quite clear that we can recruit and train as many paramedical professionals as we want and can afford. But it is by no means certain whether they will be accepted by physicians and other health professionals or by the public. Lumped into the generic term paramedical professionals are the various nurse practitioners and physicians' associates and assistants who engage in general or specialty practice under the supervision of a physician. Although these groups may differ in many respects, from the standpoint of acceptance they can be discussed as one because their roles and responsibilities are similar.
