Chronic Hemodialysis in Myelomatosis
Abstract
Two patients had an unusual form of myelomatosis primarily manifested as chronic renal failure. Progressive uremia necessitated chronic dialysis, which extended their lives well beyond the mean survival for this disease. Hemodialysis should be considered in patients with this form of myelomatosis if there are no other debilitating conditions, if a good remission of long duration is likely, and if there is potential for significant rehabilitation.
