    To the editor: In the March 1972 issue of the ANNALS, on page 396 under the title "Oliver Wendell Holmes: Shakespeare or Surgery?", you quote from Holmes' book, Our Hundred Days in Europe, concerning his conversation with Dr. Lawson Tait. I might add that Sir William Osler was also interested in the question proposed by Holmes. In Harvey Cushing's biography of Osler (1), I have come across a quotation from the Montreal Medical Journal in which Osler writes, and I quote:
