    Abstract

The patient described in this report presented with an unusual form of a myeloproliferative disorder; during therapy she developed disseminated scotochromogen infection. The case is of interest for two reasons: it documents the transition from hemorrhagic thrombocythemia to chronic granulocytic leukemia, and it calls attention to an unusual mycobacterium that previously had not been considered an opportunistic infectious agent.
