Since the recent adverse publicity concerning ovulation suppressor contraception, there is reason to believe that there has been a major epidemic of unwanted pregnancies and, for many couples, an increase in requests for vasectomy as the most acceptable contraceptive option. A review of the evidence concerning possible psychological upset after vasectomy may therefore be timely.
