Today marks the opening of the Fiftieth Annual Scientific Meeting of the American College of Physicians since its founding in 1915. During this span of fifty scientific meetings there have been many changes in the field of internal medicine. These changes have involved approaches to medical education, the understanding of disease types, and the practice of medicine.
