The Royal College of Physicians of London was founded in 1518. In 1915 an American physician, Dr. Heinrich Stern, inspired by attending one of the Royal College's comitia, or meetings, returned to found the American College of Physicians. Since then, the two organizations, parent and child, have worked in mutual regard and amity. To make this more evident the American College of Physicians has invited the Royal College to a combined meeting. This occasion—about to take place in Boston—will help our venerable parent College to celebrate its four hundred and fiftieth birthday at the time of this, our own, Forty-Ninth
