Immunization against mumps is of interest chiefly in the care of children, but physicians should also be aware of possible uses and hazards of mumps vaccine in adults. The following statement on these matters was issued by the U. S. Public Health Service Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices from its meeting on October 12, 1967. These recommendations are based on their review of all data then available on the recently developed live attenuated mumps virus vaccine.
