    The control of immunological responses has become more significant as we have become more aware of their importance in many disease processes. This is true especially in regard to the rising use of tissue transplantation as a form of treatment. Current methods, in which a variety of cytotoxic agents are employed, have had the major drawback of being quite nonspecific with the result that the body's defenses against invading organisms may be dangerously lowered (1).
