The frequency of renal diseases of different etiologies as discovered on kidney biopsy has been fairly consistent in series reported by various authors (1-10). However, the present report of a large series of renal biopsies performed in Ankara, Turkey, is specifically different from the reports from North America and from several European countries because of the frequency of unsuspected amyloidosis found on renal biopsy and its lack of association with chronic suppuration.
