Excerpt
Recent clinical observations have indicated that triglycerides containing medium chain fatty acids may be useful in decreasing the steatorrhea associated with a variety of malabsorptive disorders. It has been demonstrated that medium chain triglycerides (MCT) are of value in treating patients with pancreatic insufficiency (1), extrahepatic biliary tract obstruction (2), postgastrectomy steatorrhea (3), a-beta-lipoproteinemia (4), intestinal lymphangiectasia (5), cystic fibrosis of the pancreas (6), and massive small-bowel resection (7). Although it has been well documented that therapy with MCT results in decreased steatorrhea, there is little evidence available correlating decreased steatorrhea with weight gain. Moreover, there is little information concerned

Summario in Interlingua
