INFLUENZA PROSPECTUS—1966-67—UNITED STATES Influenza was reported in 49 of the 50 States during the winter and spring of 1965-66 with laboratory confirmations in 47. The season was noteworthy in that sometimes sharp and extensive outbreaks both of types A and B influenza occurred. Type A2 virus was recognized in most of the western States while type B predominated east of the Mississippi River, particularly in States along the Atlantic Coast. In 20 States, activity of both types of influenza viruses was demonstrated.
