Excerpt
The physician cannot help but be aware of the recent dramatic expansion of knowledge in the area of genetic determinants in protein synthesis. More specifically, the validity of the regulatory sequence of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-ribonucleic acid (RNA)-protein seems reasonably well established at all phylogenetic levels. Intensive research is daily discovering further intricacies in this marvelous biological process. The role of "messenger" RNA in translating the genetic information of DNA into specific amino acid sequences in protein has readily been accepted. Attention is now focused on the several determinants of the specificity of the "message" carried to ribosomes for the final
