Since last autumn, the Editor, for professional and family reasons, has covered quite a bit of the country on wheel and wing. From the towns and cities on the wide prairies of Texas to the villages and hills of New England, from the farmlands of Pennsylvania to the canyons and deserts of the far Southwest the land lies wide and quiet, a rich heritage from our pioneer forefathers. This look at the country in the present era of rapid travel and fast communication, of expanding population and opulent living, leads us to ponder the question: Has the last frontier vanished?
