    TO THE EDITOR:

    In their secondary analysis of the TNT study, Wenger and colleagues (1) concluded that the findings support the use of intensive low-density lipoprotein cholesterol–lowering therapy in elderly individuals with established cardiovascular disease (1). Close scrutiny of the data contradicts their conclusion.
