Fever-Induced ST-Segment Elevation with a Brugada Syndrome–Type Electrocardiogram

Background: ST-segment elevation in the setting of chest pain is always of immediate concern, even if the presentation is atypical. The Brugada syndrome, which was first described in the 1990s, generally affects young adults and manifests as right bundle-branch block, ST-segment elevation in the precordial leads, and syncopal episodes or sudden death in patients with structurally normal hearts. In some patients, the typical electrocardiography (EKG) findings become evident only in the presence of physiologic stressors.
Objective: To describe a case of a patient with a Brugada syndrome–type EKG, which was induced by fever and resolved completely with defervescence.
