Background: Primary inflammatory pseudotumor of the heart is a rare disease, and there is no consensus on the optimal approach.
Objective: To describe a case of primary inflammatory pseudotumor of the heart successfully treated with corticosteroids.
Case Report: A 54-year-old woman was admitted to our institution with an asymptomatic mass lesion in the atrium of the heart. She had been on hemodialysis for over 10 years for chronic renal failure associated with polycystic kidney disease. One year before admission, echocardiography showed a cardiac mass that was thought to be a giant thrombus. The size of the mass gradually increased despite warfarin treatment, and first-degree atrioventricular block appeared on an electrocardiogram.
