    I am a general internist who has now served in 3 major U.S. Air Force commands (continental United States, Pacific, and European commands). Colorectal cancer screening has been a frequently underrecognized and underoptimized surveillance measure at the primary care level. This has been due to the increased operations tempo with active duty, mission requirements, obstacles to retiree health, and access to usable interventions for screening, especially overseas.
