To the Editors: In the article, "A Phenomenology of Scut," you could substitute "physician" for "resident" in the paragraph on page 373 (1):

Ninety-eight percent of residents and 83% of faculty reported a clear understanding of scutwork and described it as nonurgent, of little educational value, within the competence of nonphysicians, peripheral to the resident's role in patient care, and generated by persons who do not appreciate the resident's workload or who take for granted the resident's availability.
