To the editors: Although non-A, non-B hepatitis has been associated with transfusions, this mode of transmission accounts for only a small proportion of the cases of acute disease observed in the community (1). Transmission from infected patients to close contacts and clusters of cases among members of the same household have been reported, suggesting that intrafamilial spread of non-A, non-B hepatitis may be due to unrecognized parenteral transmission or to sexual transmission (2-4).
