To the Editors: I appreciate the efforts of the American College of Physicians Ethics Committee in developing the position paper (1) on physicians and the pharmaceutical industry. I think, however, that they have missed an area of concern; that is, the professors who sell their names as editorial consultants or as authors of "rehash" articles for the "throwaway" journals, as well as those who make themselves available as the "select" lecturers for specific pharmaceutical companies.
