Lymphadenopathy Two Years Later

To the Editors: In 1988, we reported what we believed to be an unusual reaction to fish oil supplementation (1). We described the case of a patient with tender cervical adenopathy in anterior and posterior cervical regions, fever, chills, myalgias, and an elevated sedimentation rate that resolved after lymph node biopsies and with discontinuation of fish oil supplementation. The patient reported resumption of symptoms when fish oil was resumed. The initial lymph node biopsies were reported as showing reactive hyperplasia with prominent histiocytosis. Cell surface markers were all negative.

Subsequent events place our earlier diagnosis of reactive lymphadenopathy in question.
