This symposium is intended as a tribute to Ed Huth, a tribute combining three elements of high importance to Ed: words, the medical journal, and his friends and colleagues.
A symposium in which papers are given, words spoken, was chosen as the proper vehicle because words have been Ed's instrument and he has done much to uphold the value of explicitness and clarity of expression. In an era in which even popular music is consumed in video form, the written word remains most powerful in keeping honest the debate of complex matters.
