Guide for Adult Immunization, Second Edition
Excerpt
In 1985 the American College of Physicians published the first edition of the Guide for Adult Immunization (1). The decision to publish the Guide reflected recent licensure of several vaccines targeted primarily for adults rather than children. It also marked a growing awareness of the shortcomings of physician efforts to adequately vaccinate their adult patients. During the next 4 years, 94 000 copies of the Guide were distributed to physicians, medical residents and students, and health-care institutions throughout the United States, Canada, and many other countries. The Guide is now recognized as a standard reference on adult immunization.
