To the Editor: Our potassium intakes are believed to have fallen sharply since prehistoric times (1-3). I have often wondered whether our present level of intake might be responsible for some of our diseases. With that in mind, I began to take a daily supplement of 100 mmol of potassium chloride in 1981, to see what might happen to my five scattered subcutaneous lipomas. Four have disappeared since then, and the largest, originally a prominent 10 cm in diameter, shrank to about 3 cm in diameter and was removed in 1988 for histologic verification.
