To the Editor: In his excellent review (1) of tamoxifen in the treatment of breast cancer, Legha concludes that "adjuvant use of tamoxifen in premenopausal women with stage II breast cancer has not been shown to be useful and should be avoided." As the author himself has noted, the Nolvadex Adjuvant Treatment Organization (NATO) and Scottish Cancer Trial Group have shown that the adjuvant use of tamoxifen improved the disease-free and overall survival of premenopausal women (2, 3).
