With this issue, Annals of Internal Medicine shifts from monthly publication to twice-monthly publication. Issues will be published on the 1st and 15th of each month; volumes will continue to start in January and July, so each volume will be composed of 12 issues. Each issue will carry about half the number of editorial pages of the recent monthly issues. If advertising support is adequate, the number of editorial pages published will be increased by about 10% to 15%, which may make possible a slightly higher acceptance rate.

Some changes in organization of sections of the text have been instituted.
