    To the editor: The experience of Christopher and coworkers (1) using long-term oxygen therapy in 100 patients adds further credibility to the efficacy and safety of transtracheal oxygen delivery. An enhanced self image may not be as significant as the improvement in poor patient compliance with chronic oxygen therapy. Bloom and associates have actually shown an increase in oxygen utilization per month with transtracheal oxygen compared to nasal cannula, despite a 50% reduction in oxygen flow per minute (Blood BS, Daniel J, Kissick WL, Knorr RS, Wiseman M.
