    Excerpt

To the editor: Although unusual and aggressive features have been seen in cases of Hodgkin disease in patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), it is not considered a criterion for diagnosis of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). By May 1987 the Gruppo Italiano Cooperativo AIDS and Tumori had diagnosed 21 patients with HIV-associated Hodgkin disease in 14 Italian institutes. One patient was diagnosed in 1983, 2 patients in 1984, 5 patients in 1985, 9 patients in 1986, and 4 patients in the first 5 months of 1987. The median age was 24 years (range, 20 to 37).
