To the editor: The current Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendation for the duration of treatment of mycobacterial tuberculosis in persons with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) seem to be at variance with the current American Thoracic Society (ATS) recommendation. The resulting confusion needs to be resolved by the two bodies. Among other things, the CDC states "treatment may need to be longer than the standard duration of a month" (1).
