    This was to be an extraordinary meeting. Several strange figures sat around the table, like children, yet not so like children as old men, viewed through some supernatural medium. Their hair was white; their white coats said they were all physicians. There was an air of dignity and of sadness. A voice said, "The committee's final report will be read: a Report of the Panel on General Professional Education of Physicians (GPEP) for the Twenty-Second Century—presented December 24 of the year 2086."
