Excerpt

Although the title suggests a review of surgical aspects of gastroenterology, this monograph actually offers a broad review of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. There is no effort at discussing normal physiologic findings or anatomy, and details of surgical techniques are sketchy, consisting primarily of lists of surgical options. The stated goal of this monograph is to present a broad-based view of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in an up-to-date form. The author, an English surgeon, seeks to serve senior medical students and postgraduate students preparing for board examinations.
