    With the growth of the geriatric population, it is no coincidence that within a few months the Office of Technology Assessment (OTA) issued Technologies for Managing Urinary Incontinence (1) and this journal published an article by Burgio and colleagues (2) on biofeedback and urinary incontinence. The issue of urinary incontinence is indeed no stranger to Annals; in December 1982, an article by Williams and Pannill (3) detailed current knowledge on urinary incontinence in the elderly, and in February 1980, an article by deGroat and Booth (4) described the physiology of the urinary bladder and urethra.
