Research

Research is an integral part of medicine today. It provides the new knowledge necessary for preventing and treating disease. Without that new knowledge progress in health care is impossible. Just as physicians have unique responsibilities to patients and society so also must biomedical scientists operate within constraints that reflect their particular franchise.

The basic principle underlying all research is honesty. It is the responsibility of scientists to provide research results of high quality; to gather facts meticulously; to keep impeccable records of work done; to interpret results realistically, not forcing them into preconceived molds or models; and to report
